Boy With Down Syndrome Moved To Tears By Military Dad’s Surprise Homecoming

Rumble Media

Tactical Sergeant John Greiten served our country overseas for six months. His children, 15-year-old son Joshua – who has Down Syndrome – and an elementary school-aged daughter, missed him dearly, but didn’t know when he would return home.

One day during lunch, Joshua and his younger sister got the surprise of a lifetime when their dad walked into their school.

Greiten, who was standing behind his son at the lunch table, leaned down and asked, “Can I sit here?”

Joshua was completely shocked! “Dad?” he asked, thinking he was dreaming.

“Dad!” he exclaimed with excitement. He leapt out of his seat and into his father’s arms.

Their reunion was tear inducing, but it wasn’t over yet! Greiten snuck over to where his young daughter was eating lunch and asked her the same question, “Cant I sit here?”

She immediately began freaking out and jumped up to hug her dad. The three were then reunited for an emotional photo-op.

Reunions like these put huge smiles on our faces, have tears running down our cheeks, and remind us that these soldiers are not only fighting for our freedoms, but they are also sacrificing time with their families.
