After Trent Harmon was crowned the final winner of Fox’s American Idol, his new record label, Big Machine Records announced they had big plans for him, specifically in the country genre.

Harmon proved his country chops by performing an incredible rendition of George Jones’ “Tennessee Whiskey” during the competition, which was brought back to life by Chris Stapleton.

He’s sung Southern Rock staples like Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and blown us away time after time.

In this video that has recently surfaced online, Harmon proves he was a country boy way before American Idol!

In the video below, he performs Conway Twitty’s signature song, “Hello Darlin'” and absolutely nails it.

With a song like this, you know if a cover is going to be good just in the first two lyrics, and Harmon completely took us by surprise and blew us away.

He sings the 1970 classic with passion, poise, and emotion that even Conway himself would be proud!

Watch the performance below.
