Amy Grant’s Daughter Recovering After Giving Friend The Gift Of Life

More than 25 years ago, she inspired her mother’s hit song “Baby Baby.” Today she’s inspiring millions around the globe with her story of selflessness. 

Yesterday morning (January 24), Millie, daughter of Amy Grant and her first husband Gary Chapman, underwent surgery to donate one of her kidneys to her lifelong best friend, Kathryn Dudley. 

The news was first announced by Millie’s step-sister Jenny Gill who said, “Millie is donating one of her kidneys to Kathryn tomorrow morning. A true act of love and I’m in awe of her. I’m asking for all your love, good thoughts and prayers for them both along with all the staff at the hospital who will be taking care of them. It’s hard to put into words how amazed I am by her kindness.”

 Millie’s dad, Gary, also took to Facebook to ask for prayer for his daughter and commend her act of kindness.

“This is my oldest daughter, Gloria Mills Chapman. Tomorrow morning she is donating a kidney to her best friend, Kathryn,” Chapman wrote.”They’ve know each other their entire lives and when Kathryn was in need, turns out Millie was a perfect match. I’m so proud of her, words fail me. Please say a prayer for them both and trust, with me, that they are in His hands.”

Tuesday afternoon (January 24), Chapman posted that the surgery was a success and both ladies were doing well. 

“Millie is out of surgery and everything is looking good. She’ll be hurting for awhile but healing is underway. Kat is in recovery as well. Thank you all for your prayers and kindness. God is good.”

Jenny Gill took to Facebook Tuesday morning to share a photo of her step-mom and step-sister calling her a hero.
