Army Veteran Who Lost His Leg In Battle Stuns When He Carries Partner Across Finish Line

Fox News / Facebook

Proving just what it means to be a true American badass, a wounded U.S. Army veteran carried his exhausted racing partner across the finish line of the Boston Marathon in April 2017 during an incredible show of strength and patriotism.

Earl Grenville lost his leg after a road side bomb hit his vehicle in Afghanistan while serving in the Army National Guard. Since his injury, in an act of mental endurance Grenville has competed in multiple marathons across the country using a hand-bike, until now.

In one of the most moving finishes, the veteran picked his partner up, threw her over his shoulders, and took her over the finish line while she proudly waved the American flag. The emotionally-charged video has since gone viral, with over 6.1 million views on Fox News’ Facebook page alone.

At the 2013 Boston Marathon, two homemade bombs were detonated, leaving three dead, hundreds injured with 16 of those victims losing limbs. Now four years later, the wounded warrior’s miraculous act becomes even more meaningful when put into that context.
