Even though he may no longer be with us, Merle Haggard‘s spirit continues to live on through the legacy he left in his wake. The youngest of the country legend’s three sons, Ben Haggard, carries his father’s torch with a jaw-dropping rendition of his father’s song, “There Won’t Be Another Now.”

Ben took a passionate approach to the country ballad, emotion pouring out through each and every lyric. Armed with acoustic guitar, the talented 24-year-old showed off his killer vocals in a manner highly reminiscent of his father.

Ben played the guitar for his father on his final tour leading up to his death in April 2016, carrying out the remainder of the tour alongside his brother Noel and the band The Strangers.

“There Won’t Be Another Now” was released off Merle’s 1978 album I’m Always on a Mountain When I Fall. The album’s theme encapsulated Haggard’s belief that he would rather continue to climb the ladder of success than risk reaching the top and plummeting back down.
