Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins Ruin Black Tie Affair In ‘Hillbilly Bone’ Music Video

The Song Blake Turned Away At First

When Blake Shelton heard “Hillbilly Bone” for the first time, he wasn’t all that impressed. In fact, as he said during an interview with a 2010 issue of Country Weekly, he skipped the track when he first heard it on a demo CD.

But when the CD restarted and came back to “Hillbilly Bone,” Shelton discovered that he liked the song after all. As he listened to the catchy tune, he realized that it sounded an awful lot like a song a good friend and mentor of his would cut.

That person was none other than Trace Adkins.

How Everything Came Together

Adkins and Shelton have been friends for years, and Shelton has the highest level of admiration for the “Jesus and Jones” singer. So when Adkins came to his mind while listening to “Hillbilly Bone” for the first time, Shelton knew he had to bring Adkins on to sing it with him as a duet.

The two friends released “Hillbilly Bone” in October 2009, and it led them to the top spot on the Billboard country charts.

Their performance later earned them the 2010 ACM Award for Vocal Event of the Year. Due to the song’s immense success, Adkins included it on his own album, The Cowboy’s Back in Town, in August 2010.

Country Boys Hit The City

In the music video, Adkins and Shelton stroll into a fancy restaurant, and turn every head in the room. They look a bit out of place in their cowboy boots and blue jeans, but they don’t seem to care.

As Adkins and Shelton start singing during their meal, more and more people begin to look at them with a sense of curiosity, rather than disgust. Before long, Adkins and Shelton have every customer embracing their inner hillbilly as they get up and dance along to their song.

This is one epic collaboration between two hardcore country boys worth watching a thousand times over! Check it out below.
