‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ Still All The Rage As Keith Urban Eyes Video Of The Year Win

Every year, country music’s greatest music videos get the chance to shine during one special event. That event is the CMT Music Awards, the only fan-voted awards show in country music.

This year’s CMT Music Awards will take place on Wednesday (June 7) at 8/7 C. Fans are able to cast their votes for their favorite artists and videos in a total of nine categories.

While a win in any of the categories is a big deal, the Video of the Year Award is the most coveted prize of the night. There are several videos up for the big award, including one that has made history for its artist.

That artist is Keith Urban, and the video is for his smash hit “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Released in August 2016 as the fourth single off of his Grammy-nominated album Ripcord, “Blue Ain’t Your Color” held on to the top spot of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 12 consecutive weeks.

The popularity of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” inspired other artists to film covers of the song. Everyone from country a capella group Home Free to rising star Maren Morris pleased their fans with their take on the tune.

As amazing as those videos were, no one has been able to match the success of Urban’s official music video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Directed by Carter Smith, the music video was released in September 2016 and became an instant sensation.

After a mere matter of months, the music video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” has generated over 73 million views. Those numbers make “Blue Ain’t Your Color” the most-viewed music video of Urban’s entire career.

To put things in perspective, before “Blue Ain’t Your Color” Urban’s most-viewed video was the one for his 2014 single “Cop Car.” That video currently has a little over 21 million views. In other words, the success Urban has experienced with the video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” is extraordinary.

Considering how monumental of a video “Blue Ain’t Your Color” was for Urban and for country music as a whole, we think it’s safe to say that it stands a pretty good chance of winning Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. But it can’t win without your help!
