Country music fans in Wheatland, California were in for a treat when Brad Paisley brought out a surprise guest for one of his most cherished songs.
To help him perform his hit song “Whiskey Lullaby” for an ecstatic Northern California crowd, Paisley invited rising country star Lindsay Ell to sing Alison Krauss’ part on the famous duet.
Paisley released “Whiskey Lullaby” in 2004 as his Mud on the Tires album’s third single. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts and won the 2005 CMA Award for Song of the Year. It went on to become one of Paisley’s four songs that are certified 2x Platinum, with the others being “She’s Everything”, “Then”, and “Remind Me”.
The video begins with Ell singing a verse solo, and Paisley joining in harmony for the chorus. Ell, who is a very talented guitarist, joined Paisley for the music break, where they both shredded on the electric guitar.
After they sang the final note, he invited her to stay on the stage, to perform her brand new single, “Waiting On You”.
