Brantley Gilbert paid his respects to the brave men and women of the United States military with a moving performance of his emotional “One Hell Of An Amen.”

The performance took place at an event put together by Polaris Industries for disabled American war veterans, where the country singer surprised the veterans and their families with ATVs for the holidays. Prior to his performance, Gilbert expressed his overwhelming gratitude and respect he has for each of them.

“My support for the military, I don’t want you to think it’s from the sympathetic stance, it’s not,” began Gilbert. “It’s more respect if anything…I have more respect for you all than you’ll know. I appreciate what you did, and what you continue to do.”

“The Weekend” singer then goes on to explain the meaning surrounding his emotional country ballad. One of his best friends from high school enlisted into the military and was deployed over seas, where he met a man named Jonathan while at war.

“His war buddy, a fella named Jonathan Lootens,” shared Gilbert. “He passed away in Kirkuk City, Iraq…It was amazing to see how much that sacrifice meant. Not just paying the ultimate price, but just making the sacrifice to go.”

The veterans and their families were noticeably moved by his acoustic performance, with many closing their eyes and singing along to the emotionally-charged lyrics.
