Brantley Gilbert Gushes Over Seeing His Wife For The First Time After Years Apart

News OXY

For years, Amber Cochran was simply country singer Brantley Gilbert‘s “one that got away.” Growing up in a small town in Georgia, the two dated on and off for 5 years in their formative years. After making a series of wrong moves, Cochran called their relationship off for good, or so she thought.

Even after rising to superstardom following a series of No.1 hits – many inspired by his former lover such as “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” – the country singer just couldn’t shake her from his mind.

At the lowest point in his life, the country singer made the decision to seek help for his addiction to alcohol and opiates in 2011. After he got back on his feet, Gilbert decided to try and reconnect with his hometown love. Miraculously, the country singer’s cousin was able to set up a meeting for the old flames to reconnect after not speaking for nearly five years.

“I was sitting in that driveway going through in my head, ‘All right, single for life. No matter what she says or looks like or does, single for life, single for life, and she walked around the corner and all of that went out the window,” Gilbert shared with The Dispatch. “It was just, it was like we picked up where we left off without all of the bad stuff.”

The pair got hitched in June of 2015 and are more in love than ever. Gilbert went on to share that he never really moved on from Cochran, saying, “she’s been in [his] soul” since the day they met all those years ago.
