After her son tragically passed away just over a year ago, this devoted mother decided to help others through a number of ways – and when she decided to make a sign for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s recent concert, she received an outpouring of support that was completely unexpected!

Liz Honan, a lucky winner of tickets to see Tim and Faith’s Albany, NY show during their Soul2Soul Tour, shared her story and a video with 97.3 The Wolf about an amazing experience she had after waving her sign at Tim McGraw – and explained what he did once he spotted it.

Honan’s son, Kyle, passed away unexpectedly around the same time McGraw’s “Humble and Kind” was released and, as she says, he embodied the message behind the song more so than anything else. It was also the first song she heard after his funeral.

“I am well aware people always say their loved one was so kind, but my son was the epitome of humble and kind,” She told the radio station. “He was the kind of person who saw redeeming qualities in people even those who had none. If you slapped him he would turn the other cheek. He worked with special needs kids. ‘Humble and Kind’ has been our mantra for him and the foundation we started in his name.”

Taking a sign that read “My son WAS the epitome of humble and kind” to the concert, Honan had no idea what would happen when she waved it at the beloved country star.

Spotting it in the crowd, with a picture of her son in the center of it, McGraw made a bee line straight toward that edge of the stage and asked her to hand the sign over. He then proceeded to take it on stage and show everyone in the massive venue exactly what it said – holding it high and proud so the cameras could broadcast its message to every audience member. This was truly an amazing moment for this hearbroken mother.

As she wrote in a comment on the video uploaded by someone at the concert, “At 24 he was more compassionate than most adults including myself.”

His actions were so much more to my husband and myself . And now you, a total stranger have shared my son’s heart with the world I can’t thank you enough . It means everything to us that our son never be forgotten or his good deeds. May God bless you always. Thank you ! Kyle’s heartbroken mom , Liz

Honan explained to the station that she is incredibly grateful for what McGraw did and said that it brought “a little bit of peace to this grieving mom,” adding that for a brief moment, the arena knew Kyle’s life made a difference in the world.

What an amazing moment in her life, and a great way to share the message about her work toward helping others.
