Because of her strong faith, Carrie Underwood is not shy when it comes to singing religion-based songs. Her second single, “Jesus Takes The Wheel,” and first ever number one proved that.

While she is known for her string of many hits including “Before He Cheats,” “Cowboy Casanova,” “Blown Away,” and “Church Bells,” she takes gospel music to a whole new level.

During a 2010 concert at the Air Canada Centre for her Play On Tour, Underwood took a break from singing her current hits to perform the song that started it all, but with a twist.

“I feel like every artist has those few songs that no matter how long they’ve been in the business, people always name that song,” she said to the crowd. “This song is hopefully that one for me.”

She continued, “I remember exactly where I was when I very first heard this song, and I remember exactly how it made me feel. This is my first single off my first album, and it’s called ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’.”

The crowd roared with cheer and applause before singing along with her to the first verse. As she was getting to the climax of the song, her stage lifted her up high in the air.

At the end of “Jesus Take The Wheel,” she seamlessly transitioned into her powerhouse version of the hymn “How Great Thou Art” that will likely give you the chills. She proved, once again, why she’s one of the best in the business.
