Country superstar Chris Stapleton paid tribute to country legend Waylon Jennings’ classic “I Ain’t Living Long Like This” in a lively performance at his concert in Birmingham, Alabama.

The country star yet again brought “country back to its roots” in his performance of the country classic that would no doubt make Jennings proud. Stapleton’s wife Morgane sang alongside him while adding a bit of tambourine flare to the background instrumentals.

Stapleton has encountered a meteoric rise to fame since his debut album Traveller in 2015 which went on to dominate at the Country Music Association Awards. The rising star took home three major awards for “Best Male Vocalist,” “New Artist of the Year,” and “Album of the Year.”

Even though he has only found recent success as a recording artist, the Kentucky native found major success as a songwriter for huge names such as Adele, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, and Alan Jackson

Waylon Jennings first recorded “I Ain’t Living Long Like This” for his 1979 studio album What Goes Around Comes Around. His cover of the song (originally recorded by Rodney Crowell) became Jennings’ eleventh No.1 hit on the country charts.
