Nothing beats a good Johnny Cash song. This is something that every country music fan knows well, including one young lady named Madelyn Victoria.
Victoria has had a passion for music for as long as she can remember. She was only five years old when she had her first public performance, and she’s never looked back since. Now, she is well-known for her covers of classic country staples, including one of Cash’s biggest hits….”Folsom Prison Blues.”
“Folsom Prison Blues” was written by Cash and released as a single in 1955. Blending the style of train songs and prison songs into one, Cash was able to score a huge hit. “Folsom Prison Blues” topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and also found a place on the Billboard Hot 100.
Known for its fast pace and chugging rhythm, “Folsom Prison Blues” isn’t the easiest song to cover. But Victoria tackled it like a pro, along with the help of a few friends.
Victoria posted her cover of “Folsom Prison Blues” in March 2014, and it has since generated thousands of views. Instead of sticking exactly to the original style, Victoria decided to add a little twist by having one of her friends join her on the accordion, of all things!
From start to finish, Victoria’s cover is filled with a thundering sense of energy that will have you hooked. You’ll be mesmerized by her voice, which has a rich, pure country tone, especially when she hits those low notes. But her voice also has the perfect dose of grit required to pull off a song like this.
