After seasons of losing country singers to Blake Shelton, it looks like coach Adam Levine finally found himself a singer with a little country soul he can take into the finals. Gunning for a spot in the final rounds of Season 12 of The Voice, contestant Jesse Larson set the stage on fire with an explosive rendition of Chris Stapleton‘s “I Was Wrong.”
The singer exuded that similar Stapleton charm and grit, growling the lyrics of the rocking country song. Beaming with pride, Levine is seen watching in the audience clearly proud of how far Jesse has come since the blinds.
During the rehearsals for Monday night’s episode of the singing competition, the contestant shared he felt “I Was Wrong” is the most fitting for his voice.
“This reminds me so much of my dad, he gravitated towards music that hits you in the heart,” the contestant shared prior to his performance.
The excess of confidence the singer had was apparent, proving he is not one to be written off this season.
