Deacon Dedicates Emotional Performance Of Waylon Jennings Ballad To Rayna On ‘Nashville’

CMT/YouTube

When Rayna Jaymes’ character was killed off the hit CMT series Nashville, fans didn’t know what to expect from the show moving forward. She was a main character and pretty much the common denominator between all the characters.

The show runners have done an extremely exceptional job with each character’s arc, dealing with the loss of such an important person in their lives. Lately, we haven’t seen too many emotional scenes from her husband, Deacon, played by the wonderful Charles Esten.

His character has been busy running Rayna’s record label, parenting their daughters Daphne and Maddie, and being the strong backbone for everyone. It seems he is finally able to mourn her, after the introduction of new character Jessie Caine.

Performing for many esteemed Nashville figures, Deacon walks on stage with his guitar, something he has not done in a long time.

“I was going to do something else, but this seems more appropriate,” he said. “This is for Rayna.”

He begins playing Waylon Jennings’ emotional ballad “Dreaming My Dreams with You”, which brings tears to everyone’s eyes, especially during the chorus when he sings, “Someday I’ll get over you/I’ll live to see it all through/But I’ll always miss/Dreaming my dreams with you.

What did you think of his performance? Watch it below.
