For one special performance, Dolly Parton and Holly Dunn came together and performed Dunn’s iconic song “Daddy’s Hands.”

When Dolly Parton hosted The Dolly Show in the late 1980s, we got to see many collaborations between the country legend and her peers. Her variety show featured musical performances, comedy skits, and many famous guests.

During one of her episodes, Holly Dunn stopped by as the musical guest, and the pair revealed to the crowd that Dunn only agreed to come on the show if Parton would sing her latest song, “Daddy’s Hands” with her.

Parton of course said yes, seeing as at the time, it was one of her favorite country songs. Before they began the song, a tribute to Dunn’s father, they spoke about their similarities of having preachers as a father or grandfather.

Together, they delivered a heartfelt rendition of Dunn’s most well-known song, trading off verses and joining in harmony for the chorus.

In August of 1986, Holly released “Daddy’s Hands” from her self-titled album. It went on to be a huge success for her, peaking at number seven on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
