Dolly Parton Reveals Her Not So Glamorous Job Before She Hit It Big

Dolly Parton is known for not only her iconic vocals, but her ravishing attire and ever so glamorous hair and makeup! Although the blonde bombshell has remained an image of extravagant beauty from the day she came knocking at our hearts, Parton recently revealed her unlikely job before she hit it big in the music industry, taking us way back to “a season of [her] youth” if you will. 

On a CNN uploaded clip, Parton begins, “My first job was trying to become a songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee. Since I wasn’t making any money, I got a job at an outdoor sign company called ‘Northern Outdoor Sign’.” The singer explained that the owner of the company was a nearby neighbor who allowed her to come by and answer the phones. Essentially, Parton was a receptionist. 

“[It] still gave me a chance to write my song [and] use his phone to call people. It was really a job within a job.”
