Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Leaves Purple Heart Recipient Speechless After Epic Surprise

Known for this staggering muscles and even more perplexing charitable efforts and involvement with a variety of organizations, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been deemed perhaps one of the most inspiring men in the entertainment industry. From overcoming his juvenile misfortunes for his big break in the wrestling world to his incredible transition into Hollywood and beyond, Johnson is the epitome of a self-made phenomenon. 

A doting husband and father of two, Johnson has stayed true to his humble beginnings and prides himself on his admirable efforts to give back to those who continue to give so much. The superstar recently held his annual Rock The Troops, in which a variety of entertainers join forces with the “Baywatch” actor and put on one hell of a show for, and in support of, our nation’s military men and women. 

It seems that the Hawaiian native is at it again, as he recently shocked one well-deserving veteran with an abundance of surprises and heavy words of inspiration and endless respect. Purple Heart recipient and Staff Sgt. Marlene Rodriguez spoke of her eagerness to join the military at a young age, emotionally admitting that it was her second direct hit with an IED that left her unable to rejoin the military. Although landing herself the coveted Purple Heart award, Staff Sgt. Rodriguez  spoke about the honor, admitting that she had a difficult time coming to terms with her conflicting award. “Losing somebody and earning a reward, it didn’t mesh well with me,” she said. “I mean, it’s an honor to have it, but to receive it I definitely just have more guilt than anything else because I was given it because of the loss of somebody else.” 

Entranced by the woman’s unbelievable achievements and deeply touched by her financial hardship and struggle since her military discharge, Johnson surprised Staff Sgt. Rodriguez amidst her interview with a heartfelt hug and a few gifts to kick off their encounter. Upon giving the deserving woman two tickets to the premiere of his newest movie “Baywatch”, Johnson shocked viewers when he unveiled a 2018 Ford Mustang exclusively for the veteran! 

Needless to say, Staff Sgt. Rodriguez was purely speechless. We wholeheartedly admire this entertainer and his incredibly selfless actions and desire to give back.
