Elvis’ Last Debuted Country Single Before Untimely Death Remains A Fan Favorite

It was the premature and incredibly unfortunate death of Elvis Presley, most commonly referred to as “The King“, that left passionate fans and followers grief stricken and perplexed. Presley’s long standing fame and creation of the widely popular “rockabilly” genre labeled him a musical god and prodigy. However, after a longstanding and relentless battle with drugs, Presley was found dead, at the mere age of 42, in his home on August 16, 1977. While the definitive cause of Presley’s death remains to be speculation, a variety of health concerns and drug abuse seem to be the most commonly referenced.

Just a couple months before Presley’s passing, his country single “Way Down” had been released to the public, making this melody that last single released before the wretched discovery. 

The song contains a heavy beat that frames Presley’s vocals perfectly, eliciting a combination of both “rock and roll” and a hint of “blues”.
