Elvis’ Beauty Queen Girlfriend Speaks Up

Linda Thompson is a songwriter, former actress, beauty pageant winner, and perhaps most interestingly, one of Elvis Presley‘s former girlfriends. Thompson and Presley famously dated from 1972-1976, but Thompson previously never said much about her life with “The King.”

Well, that is until more recent years.

In 2016, Thompson sat down for an interview with the Star-Telegram to talk about the Texas Tribute to Elvis. Although she doesn’t often participate in Elvis-related activities, Thompson planned to speak at that event.

I’m eager to meet the fans that I haven’t met before and speak with them,” she said. “Elvis had such incredible fans. They were such down-to-earth and good people.”

How She Truly Felt About Elvis

When asked what she was looking forward to the most about the event, Thompson once again spoke about how excited she is to meet the fans, since they all share a love of Elvis:

“We have such a common thread that runs through us. We all loved Elvis. For the people who still keep his memory alive I think it’s remarkable that all these years later there’s still such a devoted fan base. I wrote a song for Josh Groban, To Where You Are, inspired by my mother’s passing, Elvis’ passing. One of the lines is ‘I believe that angels breathe and love lives on and never leaves.’ I think that’s true. When you love someone that love never leaves your heart.”

After all these years, Presley remains as one of the most-beloved musical artists of all time. This isn’t something that surprises Thompson, who believes his legacy continues for one simple reason.

He was an original,” she said, before going on to elaborate. “There are very few originals in our lives….Elvis was an absolute original. The way he moved. The way he sang. The way he spoke. The way he conducted himself.

There’s no denying it, Presley was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another artist like him. You can tune in to the video below to watch one of his many crowd-pleasing performances.
