At an event that people called “one of the most exciting nights in country music,” the wonderfully talented LeAnn Rimes served as host. Kicking off the festivities, Rimes performed a rockin’ musical number that everyone dancing in their seats.

The show was called Country Showdown, and was a talent competition similar to Nashville Star, which Rimes had previously hosted, or American Idol. After being introduced at the famous Ryman Auditorium, the “Blue” singer emerged to pay tribute to one of music’s most iconic artists – Elvis Presley.

She performed Presley’s legendary song “Jailhouse Rock” with footage of his black and white jailhouse performance playing on the screen behind her. After the first verse and chorus, she danced and shimmied about the stage during the musical break.

Presley released “Jailhouse Rock” in 1957 and accompanied it with a motion picture of the same name. In the film, Presley performed the song as a choreographed dance routine featuring himself and several other male prisoners, which is the video we saw playing behind Rimes.

Rimes continued singing the fun song for the attentive audience, belting out every note to perfection. While this video is a few years old, comments are still flooding in about how incredible her performance was.
