The entire crowd fell immediately silent at the first sounds of the guitar picking with the exception of the unanimous and rhythmic clapping that echoed through the hallowed building.

Standing center stage was one of the world’s foremost folk singers who has proven her abilities throughout almost every single genre, but can’t ever stay away from country music too long.

With pitch-perfect precision, Brandi Carlile delivered the first few words of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene” to the audience as they patiently awaited, keeping time with their hands and feet.

Immediately after her voice rang out through the Mother Church, Carlile heard the audience roar with thrill and excitement as they realized just how incredible this moment was going to be for them.

Paired with twin brothers who provided her backup vocals and instrumentation, Carlile left a haunting last impression on the concert-goers that attended her show – and the more people see her performance, the more they fall in love with her charm, raw talent, and stunning musical craftsmanship.

If you think you’ve heard the best cover of “Jolene” already, you definitely haven’t heard Brandi Carlile belt it out straight from the Ryman’s stage.

Watch her powerhouse tribute to one of country music’s most cherished legends below.
