‘Dancing With The Stars’ Gets The Country Music Treatment By Famous Texan

“My name is Rick Perry, I’m the Governor of the Great State of Texas…” Wait a second.

“That’s not right, I’m the former Governor.” That’s how Rick Perry introduced himself on the Season 23 premiere of Dancing with the Stars.

The former Governor of Texas was excited to be on DWTS this year because his daughter is getting married soon and he wants to be well-prepared for the father-daughter dance.

Having never danced in his life before, Perry’s professional partner, Emma Slater, had to start their training from the basics. They practiced the Cha Cha for weeks and Monday night (Sept. 12), it was time to reveal what they’ve been rehearsing for hours on end.

Their Cha Cha had a carnival theme set to the tune of “God Blessed Texas” by Little Texas.  The dance was high energy and very entertaining. Perry missed a few steps, but he stayed light on his feet and kept a smile on his face.

Well done! He definitely made the Lone Star State proud. Watch the performance below.
