Garth Brooks Halts Show To Do The Unexpected

Sharon Cantillon/Buffalo News

Country music star Garth Brooks created an unforgettable experience for one unsuspecting fan when he not only noticed her in a crowd, but went the extra mile to show his appreciation for the woman’s support.

Sarah Rivera, a dedicated fan that has attended no shortage of Brooks’ concerts, endured a 320 mile trek to see the country boy in Kansas City! With May being a monumental month for the 43-year-old, Rivera drafted an eye catching sign to the singer that read, “May To Do: See Garth in KC, open new business, son’s [high school] graduation”, ending with a request to the play songs “Standing Outside The Fire” and “Mom”.

It seems as if the craft had served as more than just a celebration for her achievements and hopeful song requests, as Brooks noticed the sign and began to read its content aloud to the crowd! “I don’t know at what point I really realized what was going on,” Rivera told the Des Moines Register“I don’t even remember him really playing the song. I know he played it, but at the same time it was this surreal moment.”

Not only were the woman’s song requests fulfilled, but the singer paused from his concert to sign his guitar and kindly hand it directly down to her!  “I just broke down, crying. I lost it. I just completely lost it,” she admitted.

Rivera admits that Brooks’ music has assisted in her clearance of difficult times, reminiscing on times in which a rough night called for the country singer’s music as instant therapy. Congratulations to this lucky fan!
