While the world of country music has been graced by some of the most iconic couples in the music business, no relationship comes close to the intense bond shared between George Jones and Tammy Wynette. One of most iconic couples to ever hit the music industry came together once again after their divorce for a heart-wrenching performance of their biggest duets.

“I’ll tell a story about her too,” said Jones prior to the performance. “She wrote a book about me…Well you wait until I write mine.”

“It’s not all about you!” responded Wynette.

The former spouses kicked off their medley with “The Race is On” before transitioning into their iconic duet “Golden Ring,” changing the lyrics as to tell the story of their divorce. “Tammy said one thing’s for certain George, I don’t love you anymore,” Jones sang to Wynette, whose mood became noticeably changed by the line.

“Tammy I gotta ask you one question,” interrupted George midway through the song. “Do you love me?”

“You know I do!” she responded.

Even though they went on to find love with someone else after their divorce, the pair occasionally met up to perform the iconic music they made together, even releasing an album together, One, in 1995.
