From One Legend To Another
Two of the greatest artists to ever grace country music are Conway Twitty and George Strait. So you could imagine how incredible it would be to hear one of these artists cover the other’s songs.
Well wonder no longer. Because as it turns out, Strait once performed Twitty’s hit song “Linda on My Mind. It’s just as amazing as you would expect.
Written by Twitty himself, “Linda on My Mind” was released in January 1975. It was the first single from his album of the same name.
The song went on to become his 12th number one hit. It held on to the chart’s top spot for a total of eight weeks.
A Story Strait Goes On To Tell
The song tells the story of a man who wants to leave his current relationship for a new love, a woman named Linda.
Although he can’t get Linda off his mind, the narrator feels bad for the pain he’s causing his former love. He sings, “Lord it’s killing me to see her crying. She knows I’m lying here beside her with Linda on my mind…”
Strait performed “Linda on My Mind” in 2005 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. He captivated the crowd with his honest delivery of the lyrics.
The song is truly the perfect fit for Strait. It’s classic country to the core, just like him.
The below video is the only known footage of Strait singing “Linda on My Mind.” You definitely don’t want to skip watching it.
We’d love to hear Strait sing more of Twitty’s music in the future!
