Grace VanderWaal Fights Tears In Emotional Acoustic Cover Of Hit Song

In an unprecedented act, the typically bubbly Grace VanderWaal took on new look during an emotional cover of Ed Sheeran’s 2011 hit, “The A-Team”.

The 12-year-old ukulele strumming singer showed her unseen vulnerable side, becoming noticeably emotional during her delivery of the dark song. She exchanged her signature ukulele for an acoustic guitar, making for an extremely pure and simple performance highly reminiscent of Sheeran’s original.

The nation met VanderWaal back in June of 2016 after her audition for America’s Got Talent went viral. Her success on the show was a result of a string of original songs written by the singer, resulting in her inevitable win as the second youngest champion in the history of the show.

The release of “The A-Team” put Sheeran on the map after the song exploded on the charts on an international scale. The British singer came up with the song following one of his earliest gigs playing for the residents of a local homeless shelter. Deeply moved by some of the stories shared with him, the singer channeled their experiences into his music to tell the tragic story of someone caught up in a “Class A drug”.
