Hank Williams Classic Gets Reworked Into Magical George Jones & Randy Travis Duet

If there are two men in country music who could sing with the same emotion Hank Williams brought to his music, it would be George Jones and Randy Travis

Because of this fact, it comes as no surprise that the two country legends came together to sing one of Williams’ most famous songs, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”.

Travis sang the first verse and Jones took the lead for the second, before harmonizing together for the last verse.

Travis has been known to cover this song throughout his career. In fact, it was the very first song he ever sang at his Grand Ole Opry debut in 1986.

Williams released this iconic song, which was inspired by his troubled relationship with his wife Audrey, in 1949. It has been covered by countless musicians over the course of the last 68 years, with Elvis Presley introducing it as, “Probably the saddest song I’ve ever heard.”
