The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Gave Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’ An Epic Makeover

The King got the royal treatment last year when the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra reimagined an arrangement of Elvis Presley’s most beloved classics. After the well-received previous album they are back in the studio recording a brand new collection. The result? An indescribable sound you simply have to hear for yourself.

The volume titled, “The Wonder of You,” is set for release later this month featuring more retooled numbers including one of his biggest hits, “Suspicious Minds.” Album producer Nick Patrick says they chose to include Elvis’ original vocals because they are “perfectly suited for a symphonic treatment.”

“We wanted to create a more upbeat, ‘celebratory ‘ feeling for the listener,” says Patrick in regards to the project. “We worked more from the ground up, adding rhythm elements first and then adding the orchestral parts later in the process. This gave us the ability to focus on the rhythmic energy of the songs and help us understand what Elvis was responding to during the original recordings.”

Patrick says they tried taking a different approach to the album as the previous one. The album also features “Always on My mind,” “A Big Hunk O’Love,” as well as “I Got a Thing About You Baby.”
