Home Free Delivers A Cappella Version Of Garth Brooks’ “Friends In Low Places”

A Celebration Of Friendship

Back in 2016, country a cappella group Home Free announced one of their founding members, Chris Rupp, was leaving to pursue his solo career. To celebrate their friendship, the group filmed one of their last music videos together. They picked the perfect song for it.

In 1990, Garth Brooks released his mega-hit  “Friends in Low Places.” The song tells the story of a country boy who crashes a fancy party his ex-lover happens to be at.

Due to the song’s popularity, few artists have attempted to tackle it.

An A Cappella Take On Garth

But Home Free was up for the challenge, and we’d say they excelled. Their version of “Friends in Low Places” was released on their September 2015 album Country Evolution. Though they didn’t release a music video until the spring of 2016.

The video starts with the five friends sitting together in a living room. Empty champagne glasses are seen on the table. Once the song shifts to the chorus, the group heads to the beach. From there they lounge around, swim with a stingray, and enjoy a few cold drinks.

Keeping up with the island theme, the group gave their performance a “beachy” feeling. They truly made the song their own!

As we’ve come to expect from Home Free, their cover also features their powerful vocals and harmonies. Their performance will have you hitting replay over and over again.
