Home Free Transforms Current Chart Hit Into Awe-Inspiring A Cappella Masterpiece

While a cappella group Home Free is mainly known for their covers of country songs, they’ve also tried their hands at tunes from other genres. Their upcoming album, Timeless, is set to feature a perfect mix of covers from different genres, along with a handful of originals. 

One of the covers on the album sends the group in the rock direction. The song is titled “In the Blood,” and it was released as the latest single off of pop/rock artist John Mayer’s current album, The Search for Everything.

“In the Blood” was released in May 2017 and didn’t hesitate in making its way up the charts. It climbed as high as the 13th spot on the Billboard rock songs chart, making it one of the most popular songs in the genre right now. In addition, the song was championed to country fans by radio DJ Bobby Bones, who played it on his show.

That’s how Home Free was first introduced to “In the Blood. As tenor harmony singer Rob Lundquist explained during an interview with iHeart Country, the group instantly knew that they had to record a cover of the song:

“We first heard ‘In the Blood’ when Bobby played it on his show and were immediately drawn to the spirit and message of the lyrics. Our producer worked up the stripped-down arrangement and we’re proud to have the opportunity to share our take on an incredible song.”

Home Free’s cover of “In the Blood” appears as the sixth track on their upcoming album, Timeless, which is set for release on September 22. To add to the level of excitement leading up to the album’s release, Home Free debuted a music video for “In the Blood” on Wednesday (August 30.)

Home Free’s “In the Blood” video was shot at a few different locations, including a waterfall and an old country farmhouse. The beauty of the video’s various settings was enhanced by the group’s remarkable harmonies and solo performances, which were performed by bass singer Tim Foust, baritone harmony singer Adam Chance, and Lundquist.
