Home Run! Trace Adkins Knocks It Out Of The Park In ‘Swing’

Everyone knows that baseball is America’s pastime. Like baseball, country music is also as American as apple pie. So when a major country star recorded a song with a baseball theme, you can bet that it was a home run.

Trace Adkins released “Swing” as the lead single off of his album Dangerous Man in 2006. The tune went on to claim the 20th spot on the Billboard country charts and also crossed over to the pop charts.

Written by Chris Stapleton and Frank Rogers, the song compares the concept of striking out in baseball to men’s failed attempts to pick up a women. The first man strikes out when he uses generic pick up lines, while she sends the second man packing after he tells her he left Harvard after only one semester.

However, it’s the third man who finally hits a home run and manages to impress the woman, and they leave together.

The music video for “Swing” was directed by Michael Salomon, who has directed many of Adkins’ other music videos. Instead of being set in a bar, the music video further explores the baseball theme by showcasing a team as they practice.

A small group of fans gathers to watch the practice, including a beautiful woman who all of the players try to impress, with no success. None of them are able to hit the ball, let alone score a home run, which makes them even less appealing to the woman.

Then Adkins, who plays the part of the groundskeeper, comes up to the plate and hits the ball out of the park. Impressed with what she sees, the woman hops into his arms and the two enjoy the rest of the day in the ballpark.

Adkins has hit another home run with his most recent single, “Lit.” The song covers all sorts of things that give people a huge thrill, such as fishing with dynamite or enjoying the company of a beautiful woman. Like “Swing,” Adkins’ latest single is a fun-loving song that will have you grooving in your seat.

Adkins hasn’t released a music video for “Lit” yet, but he has performed it live on a number of occasions. You can see his performance of the song during his appearance on Fox & Friends in the video below.
