Homesick Country Boy Honors His Roots With Emotional Cover Of ‘Where I Come From’

Far away from home for college, this youngster pours his heart into a performance that truly shows how much he appreciates where he’s from.

This 2011 super-hit was recorded and released by one of the biggest duos in country music, Montgomery Gentry, and has become instantly recognizable in the time since.

This young student, attending school about three hours from his hometown opens the video with a welcome that tells his viewers just how homesick he is.

“As much as I love going to school here in Madison, and living here – it’s not where I’m from….it’s not Independence, Wisconsin,” Ryan Guza says.

With that, he strums his way into a magical tune dedicated to honoring his roots – one that hard-rocking duo Montgomery Gentry stormed the charts with and received a gold record for!

The song was originally released as the first single to their seventh studio album, Rebels on the Run, that was also released in 2011. The chart-topping hit helped the album sell nearly 100,000 copies and chart in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums.
