A true country outlaw and a legendary musician, Merle Haggard’s life was a storied tale of ups, downs, and many, many hit songs.
The man who played a key role in shaping country music launched his first No. 1 single in 1966 when “I’m A Lonesome Fugitive” was issued as the first single from his album of the same name.

14 years and 25 No. 1 hits later, the singer was at a huge point in his career and had just finished dominating the outlaw country movement when he released a song that would immortalize itself in country music history and became one of his biggest hits.

“I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink” was issued as the second single from Back To The Barroooms and spent a total of twelve weeks on the country chart, nailing the No. 1 spot.
When The Hag was returning to the Grand Ole Opry for a concert, the legend decided to finish off the night with a stunning performance of “Silver Wings” and “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink” with his son, Ben Haggard playing alongside him.
