Kacey Musgraves & Fiancé Use Johnny Cash’s Poem For Chilling New Song

Country music star Kacey Musgraves had fans trembling with emotion when she used a poem from Johnny Cash to his wife June Carter to create the ultimate love song.

Performing alongside her fiancé, Ruston Kelly, Musgraves was seen in a captured clip that showcased the two performers bringing to life Cash’s formerly written poem, “To June, This Morning.” The “Merry Go ‘Round” singer gave a brief description of her performance in her social media upload, emotionally writing,

“Last night [Ruston Kelly] + I sang “To June, This Morning” – an actual poem Johnny Cash wrote in 1970 that we put to music. (It’ll be on the upcoming ‘Forever Words’ project that will feature many different amazing artists).” 

The couple’s rendition hooked their fans and post show viewers, pouring out their appreciation for the stars’ admirable influence from the Cash’s career and iconic love story. 

Musgraves will be adding this chilling lyrical creation to their upcoming album, Johnny Cash Forever Words: The Music. The collaboration will contain additional poems transitioned into beautiful ballads penned by the legend. Fellow stars such as Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, and Cash’s son John Carter Cash have recorded their own variations of the poetry, piquing the excitement of eager fans awaiting their release.
