Overcome with emotion, Keith Urban burst into tears after watching his wife Nicole Kidman’s heartbreaking performance in the Oscar-nominated film, Lion

Lion tells the real life story of an Australian couple who adopt an Indian boy named Saroo after he tragically becomes separated from his biological parents. Kidman garnered an Oscar nomination for “Best Supporting Actress” following her heartbreaking portrayal of the boy’s adoptive mother, Sue Brierly. A nomination her husband apparently thinks she’s more than deserving of.

I knew we were onto a good thing when my sister and my husband saw the film and they both came out weeping and wanting to hug me,” Kidman shared with E! News according to PEOPLE. “I thought that’s an amazing response to a film.”

Urban and Kidman married back in 2006 after meeting just a year prior. The Australian couple have a conjoined four children together; two biological daughters in addition to Kidman’s two adopted children from her previous marriage to actor Tom Cruise.

So what exactly was the source of Urban’s tears?

The “Blue Ain’t Your Color’ singer shared Lion is a “really, really beautiful film…and I always want to stress that so much of the crying is really more about the triumph of the film and the triumph of love. That’s really what it’s about.”

Lion is based on the non-fiction novel A Long Way Home written by Saroo Brierley and Larry Buttrose. You can watch the trailer for the critically acclaimed film below.
