Keith Urban Performs “The Star-Spangled Banner” Live For The First Time Ever

One of the most anticipated moments of this years’ NHL post season games has been the surprise performances from some of Music City’s biggest stars prior to Nashville Predators home games. May 16th, 2017 included a National Anthem guest vocalist that was no exception.
Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum and Vince Gill have each taken their turn singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and Tuesday night (May 16) was Keith Urban‘s turn.
Bridgestone Arena was packed full of Preds fans as they geared up to face the Anaheim Ducks for Game 3 of the Western Conference final. Unlike the country stars before him, Urban waited to make his way to the on-ice microphone until he was introduced. As the country crooner emerged, the crowd erupted, obviously thrilled to hear Urban deliver his own unique rendition of our National Anthem.
Urban wasted no time singing the song as he jumped right in, not slowing down until it was over. But, his vocals were spot on and delighted the anxious Preds home crowd.
When there’s hockey in Smashville, you already know there’s a stellar anthem.

Few people knew that Urban has never performed the American National Anthem until tonight. Urban, a native Australian, revealed the news when he spoke with media following his performance and called it one of the “proudest moments ever in my life.”
