Since her time competing on American Idol, Kellie Pickler has become a household name. Whether it be for her incredible voice or spunky personality, it really is hard not to love her. She is a successful singer, songwriter, helms her own reality show I Love Kellie Pickler, and recently embarked on a new career move – TV host!
She is co-hosting her own daytime talk show with journalist Ben Aaron called Pickler & Ben, which is executive produced by Faith Hill. On the show, Pickler and Aaron host many different segments including cooking, fashion, and fitness, and are forced into doing many funny things.
In a recent episode, they invited Man vs. Food host Casey Webb to stop by and things got interesting! Man vs. Food is a Travel Channel show where Webb travels the country trying different food challenges including a chicken wing challenge titled the “Death Wish” because the wings are tossed in ghost pepper sauce and you have to wear gloves and goggles while eating them. He had ten minutes to eat the wings, and wait ten minutes before he could drink anything. He became only the 22nd person to finish the challenge out of 323 attempts.
Webb knows a thing or two about food challenges, so he brought a semi-tame one to the show to do against Pickler and Aaron – the Sour Challenge! Each host had four dishes in front of them – sauerkraut juice, tamarind sauce, bitter gourd juice, and umeboshi plums.
While some bitter or sour foods, like sauerkraut, have health benefits, Webb admitted, “Some of them, they’re not easy to take down. We may need some water.”
That didn’t scare Pickler at all, who took the sauerkraut juice like a champ! The tamarind sauce, however, was another story. After just one small spoonful, Pickler started making the funniest faces! The sourness was really getting to her and it was hard for her to handle it.
She powered through the sauce, but needed help getting through the bitter gourd juice, so the audience began chanting her name. With their encouragement, she was able to down the juice in two big gulps, with two big sour faces after each one.
Watch the hysterical video below to she how she fared with the umeboshi plums.
