When the world was first introduced to Kellie Pickler on the fifth season of American Idol, she stole the nation’s hearts.

Record labels knew she was destined for stardom when she was signed by 19 Recordings and BNA Records just weeks after her elimination. Her debut album is certified Gold and she is considered one of the most successful American Idol alumni.

Her final performance on American Idol was the timeless classic, “Unchained Melody,” and she nailed it. Her clear tone and soprano voice are perfect for this song. The audience agreed, giving her a standing ovation after the performance.

“Unchained Melody” was written in 1955 by Alex North and Hy Zaret for a little-known prison movie called Unchained. Since then, it’s become one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century. There are over 500 versions in hundreds of different languages.
