Paying tribute to the King of Country, these two best friends surprised the crowd with a cover of one of the most memorable songs in this history of country music.

During one of his 2015 tour stops, country superstar Kenny Chesney brought his close friend and duetting partner, Miranda Lambert, out to perform with him for one date only – and they made the most of it!

In the middle of Chesney’s set, he had Lambert join him for a chilling duet of his famous song “You and Tequila” that sounded like pure heaven – but just as she was about to leave the stage, Chesney stopped everything and ran toward the back of the stage to talk to the band.

Nobody can hear what he’s saying, but he also whispers something into Lambert’s ear and it’s clear that they’re gearing up for something huge.

“We’re gonna send this song out to our friend,” Chesney announces to the audience. “[He’s] probably fishin’ somewhere on a boat right now or down in Texas. So wherever George is, this song goes out to him!”

And with that, the two kicked off one of the best covers of George Strait‘s “Carried Away” that you’ve ever seen!
