The audience at the 2008 Fashion Rocks event was in for a huge surprise during Kid Rock’s rowdy performance of his hit song “All Summer Long”.

He was introduced by one of our favorite Nashville stars, Hayden Panettiere, who was then starring on the smash hit TV show Heroes

Rock came out on stage guns blazing and got the crowd fired up with the opening lyrics of his rambunctious song. He had everyone in the crowd swaying and clapping to the beat almost immediately.

About halfway through, he stopped singing and said to the crowd, “Oh people, people! I’d like to bring out some very good friends right now.”

Good thing he started introducing his friends right away because if he waited any longer, the crowd would have rioted in anticipation!

Introducing these rock legends, Kid Rock said, “Mr. Johnny Van Zant, Ricky Medlocke, Billy Powell and Gary Rossington. Ladies and gentlemen, Lynyrd Skynyrd!”

Since most of the guitar riffs and the beat are the same, the rockers transitioned seamlessly into singing the iconic Skynyrd song “Sweet Home Alabama” without even skipping a beat.

Their collaboration got the crowd on their feet singing along to the 1974 hit. Watch the rockin’ performance below.
