Already storming the charts, her newest single is making huge leaps as a message empowering people and encouraging self-acceptance.

Released as the second single from her self-titled EP, “Road Less Traveled” is one of those songs that you can’t help getting caught up in the instant that you hear it.

Written alongside pop sensation Meghan Trainor and famed writer/producer Jesse Frasure, Lauren Alaina explores the depths of emotion and internal conflicts that come with a young person struggling to accept themselves – and specifically, their body image.

Having struggled with her own body image throughout her teen years, Alaina’s impressive track surges with empowering lyrics and catchy phrases.

“Why do you keep on staring / That mirror, mirror, it ain’t fair at all / Dress sizes can’t define, don’t let the world decide what’s beautiful”

“If you trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle / Don’t be afraid, take the road less traveled”

This upbeat anthem of self-acceptance is a great example of an unforgettable song that shines with a great message and Alaina is the perfect person to deliver it!

Her incredible vocal talent is beautifully showcased on this single, and the new music video pairs it with remarkable imagery that follow the lyrics’ message of valuing yourself.

With Alaina narrating the video through the song, you watch a little girl staring at her reflection in the mirror as she grows up, trying makeup, and eventually losing her own self-worth in an effort to become what she sees in magazines.

Alaina appearing as the adult version of the youngster shown in the video, emerges from the mirror to guide her younger self toward a positive body image and overall appreciation for who she is.

The video moves into a segment that exposes the hurt and incredible struggle Alaina dealt with following her rise to fame on American Idol – a struggle of being okay with who she is and having millions of people attack her for who they think she should be.

After overcoming the battle of self-acceptance and the torture of public opinion, Lauren Alaina is here to spread a message that so many people need to hear and she does it in such a beautiful way.
