When Haggard passed away on his 79th birthday (April 6th 2016), the internet was filled with grief and mourning for the loss of a legend with a seemingly endless number of artists beginning to perform covers of his songs, but one thing nearly went unnoticed!

Several years ago, Rimes published a stunning live recording of a Haggard classic, “The Bottle Let Me Down”, paying homage to her roots and singing one of her favorite country songs. It is one of the most beautiful covers of his song that has ever been sung.
