The cast of the popular television series Nashville is in mourning following the death of one of their own.

68-year-old Powers Boothe, who played former Nashville mayor Lamar Wyatt on 26 episodes of Nashville, passed away in his sleep on Sunday (May 14). His rep issued a statement, saying that Powers had died due to “natural causes.”

A memorial celebration for Powers is being considered for a future date. In the meantime, his rep states that those wishing to honor Powers can donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation, “which honors the nation’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

Needless to say, Powers’ Nashville co-stars were heartbroken when they learned about his passing. Sister duo Lennon & Maisy, who play Maddie and Daphne Conrad, penned a touching note to show how much Powers meant to them.

So saddened to hear of about the passing of Powers Boothe,” the sisters wrote in a post made to their Facebook. “It was such and honor to work with and a privilege to know him.

They also shared a photo of themselves on set with Powers. His character was Maddie and Daphne’s grandfather, so he appeared in many scenes with them during his time on the show.

The photo shows Powers crouching beside the two girls, while they both look up at him. It seemed like the perfect photo to share to capture the bond the girls shared with him.

It’s clear from their tribute that Powers made a big impression on the two sisters. Like Lennon & Maisy, we’ll be keeping Powers’ family and loved ones in our hearts during this difficult time.
