It is the responsibility of the older generations to teach the younger ones about the great music of the past. It’s this idea of passing music down through generations that has led to the continued popularity of Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd

Skynyrd often refers to their fan base as being “three generations bold.” Their original fans passed the love of their music on to their children, who then taught their children about Skynyrd as well. If things keep going at this rate, we think Skynyrd’s fan base will be infinite generations bold.

One little boy named Mason is part of that third generation of Skynyrd fans. But Mason isn’t just a fan of Skynyrd’s music…he can play it too!

Back in 2009, Mason proved just how much he loved Skynyrd by delivering an epic guitar cover of their most iconic song, “Free Bird.” We’re not sure exactly how old Mason was at the time, but based on other videos, he was between the ages of nine and ten.

Mason only played a small snippet of the song, not the whole thing. But that tiny bit was enough to tell that Mason had a lot of talent in that little body of his!

Granted, Mason’s performance had the imperfections that you would expect to see from someone his age. But that doesn’t downplay the incredible job he did playing “Free Bird.” He was still just a kid after all!

Tune in below to be impressed by this youngster’s guitar skills. We’d say that Skynyrd’s history is in safe hands with people like him!

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd & Second Helping Live’ is available now on DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats – it’s the perfect gift for the Lynyrd Skynyrd fan in your life. Buy it here on Amazon!
