The internet is full of plenty of fan covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd songs, particularly their most well-known hits such as “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama.” But covers of some of their lesser-known tunes are more few and far between.

Not many people have sat down to cover Skynyrd’s 1976 release “All I Can Do Is Write About It,” which appeared on their album, Gimme Back My Bullets. Written by Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, the song serves as a reflection on where the band members grew up in Florida. As Ronnie sings about the natural beauty of their home, he knows that the “concrete” of the cities is slowly moving in, saying, “Lord take me and mine before that comes.”

One singer-songwriter named Allie Sealey did what few have done before and shared a cover of “All I Can Do Is Write About It” with her followers on YouTube. In the description to her video, Sealey revealed that Skynyrd is her favorite band of all time. When it comes to their music, she said she can strongly relate to the meaning of “All I Can Do Is Write About It,” and that it is a song that is close to her heart.

You can hear Sealey’s passion for the song in her voice as she sings. Playing her acoustic guitar as well, Sealey pours her heart into every note. She did an excellent job at capturing the emotions involved in the song, which is difficult to master.

Plus, you can’t ignore the raw beauty of Sealey’s voice, which has a unique, sort of country-blues sound. Some people even pointed out in the comments that she has one of those unusual voices that you can distinguish from anyone else, and we’d have to agree.

Tune in below to see Sealey’s performance for yourself. If you like what you hear, you can follow her Instagram here

Because of people like Sealey, Skynyrd’s legacy seems set to last for a long, long time.
