Lukas Nelson and Shooter Jennings performed their country music legend fathers’ iconic “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” at Lola’s Saloon in Fort Worth, Texas back in April of 2016.

The sons of the legendary Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings did their fathers’ iconic performance justice through their rendition. The two friends initially recorded the outlaw classic for Netflix series The Ranch, Lukas later asking his father’s late best friend’s son if he would like to go on tour with him.

“We  were in the studio and Lukas said ‘Hey do you wanna go on tour?'” recalled Shooter prior to their performance. “And I was like ‘Okay’…We recorded a bunch together, but [‘Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys’] was the first to come out.”

“Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” was released by Willie and Waylon in 1978 as a single off their duets album, Waylon and Willie. The song went on to win a Grammy Award for “Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.”
