Luke Bryan Mourns Lost Love In New Single Everyone’s Been Waiting To Hear

As promised, Luke Bryan debuted a brand-new single on Wednesday (August 23). The song, titled “Light It Up,” will serve as the first single off of Bryan’s upcoming album, which is due to be released before the end of the year.

Written by Bryan and Old Dominion‘s Brad Tursi, “Light It Up,” joins a host of other country songs that capture the pain of a broken heart. The thing that separates “Light It Up” from those other songs is that it takes on a modern approach, using a cell phone as the symbol of lost love.

Bryan opens the song by checking his phone for messages from the girl he loves, but he hasn’t heard anything from her. He reveals that the two of them had a fight, and since then he has kept his phone glued to his side, waiting to see if she’ll reach out to him and want to reconcile.

His feelings of heartache are best captured in the chorus, as he sings of his suspicions that his former flame may be out with someone else:

“I get so neurotic about it baby, ‘cause I know you’re reading your phone. I can’t help from going crazy. Thinking you might not be all alone.”

If “Light It Up” reaches the top spot on the chart, it will become the 19th number one single of Bryan’s career. All of his singles have hit number one since 2011’s “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” so we think he stands a good shot at topping the charts again with this new single.
