Luke Bryan Reveals True Feelings On Katy Perry’s Controversial ‘Idol’ Kiss

American Idol / YouTube

19-year-old American Idol contestant Benjamin Glaze made headlines following his audition for a few reasons. Before beginning his audition, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie tried to get to know him a little bit.

Glaze revealed that he worked at an electronics store and really enjoyed it because a lot of cute girls always caught his attention. Bryan then asked, “Have you kissed a girl and liked it?” playing off of Perry’s 2008 hit song “I Kissed A Girl.”

The contestant explained that he had never kissed a girl because he had never had a girlfriend and he wanted to save his first kiss for his first relationship.

Perry then invited him closer to the judges table to give her a kiss on the cheek, but instead of receiving a peck on the cheek, she turned and gave him a peck on the lips!

After his audition aired, Glaze revealed that he wasn’t thrilled about the kiss.

“I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special,” he told The New York Times.

The kiss has since become quite controversial and for the first time, Bryan is addressing it when he stopped by The Morning Show in Australia.

“It’s unfortunate that stuff like that turns into a story that big,” Bryan said. “I watched an actual interview where Ben, the kid that was involved, said that he was cool with everything.”

He stayed loyal to his fellow Idol judge by saying, “I gotta back Katy on that. She’s in there working hard and making fun TV.”
